Chappell Hill is a small town in Washington County, Texas. It is located off Highway 290, about halfway between Houston and Austin.

The town of Chappell Hill was established in 1847 by Mary Hargrove Haller, Robert Wooding Chappell’s granddaughter, whom she named the town after. Mary Haller bought the land and divided up the land into plot lines, with streets and plots laid out in a metered pattern. The sale of the land took place in the fall of 1849. The people from Chappell Hill are proud of its annual Bluebonnet Festival (the official bluebonnet festival of Texas), which celebrates the arrival of spring. The festival features local vendors’ food, music, and arts and crafts. Chappell Hill Historical Society
