Chappell Hill is a small town in Washington County, Texas. It is located off Highway 290, about halfway between Houston and Austin.

The town of Chappell Hill was established in 1847 by Mary Hargrove Haller, Robert Wooding Chappell’s granddaughter, whom she named the town after. Mary Haller bought the land and divided up the land into plot lines, with streets and plots laid out in a metered pattern. The sale of the land took place in the fall of 1849.
